Main House

The main house is 4,744 square feet – custom designed and built in 2017. It is situated on the highest elevation the land has to offer. The entire home is extremely energy efficient and considered a sealed envelope with all interior space as “conditioned space”. The primary heating and cooling are provided by two electric, 3-ton units. The highlights throughout the house are pine and cedar posts, beams, hardwood floors, and trim work. The numerous well-thought-out and innovative features are amazing and must be seen to be fully appreciated.

Kitchen

Commercial-grade kitchen with Blue Star cooking appliances (stacked French door electric oven and 6-burner, 24″ griddle gas cook top with large pot filler). The countertop space is a one-of-a-kind, chiseled edge, leathered, bronzite quartzite top called “The John Wayne”. At the center of all gatherings is a giant island with bar stool seating. All sinks are hammered copper farmhouse sinks with functional spray/stream faucets. The kitchen sports a built-in and plumbed Miele coffee and cappuccino machine. Finally, the knotty alder cabinets are KraftMaid, top grade to last a lifetime, with highly functional easy-close drawers and doors. Pots, pans, bakery items, and even cast iron have a place. No stone is left unturned – even the outlets, lights, and masterfully set stonework around the cook top are strategically placed for an amazing cooking experience.

The smaller space in the front features a very secure and friendly welcome to the house or just a nice quite sitting area to have a commanding view of the main farm. The back features a built-in kitchen area that has all the gas lines, water, and power configured and ready to go. This kitchen space is not finished but is ready for custom appliances. The overall area is great for entertaining or for napping on a spring day. The outside porches are trimmed out with cedar vertical and horizontal top and bottom posts with powder coated steel railings. All the porches are covered spaces. The kitchen/dining area has a vaulted ceiling and the porch that opens out from the 1st floor living area has an insulated 9′ ceiling. The 1st floor primary suite also opens into this porch.

Water Filtration System

The entire house is on a reverse osmosis water filtering system. Well water is brought into the house then conditioned and stored in a series of 700 gallon holding tanks. This is a commercial/industrial grade system.

Laundry Room

The KraftMaid knotty alder cabinets in this space match the kitchen cabinets. This room allows for the family dog to have access to the outside through a doggy crawl space into the garage. There is also a washer and dryer tucked away in the foyer at the top of stairs on the second floor.

Attic

Throughout the house, 1″ of closed-cell spray foam insulation provides the base layer of insulation and structural rigidness. The remaining spray foam is open cell. The foam is 18″ in the roof deck and 5 ½” in the side wall. This insulation extends into the crawl space, resting on the cinder tile foundation, making this home a energy-efficient, sealed envelope.

Crawlspace

The crawlspace is completely sealed with the whole-house water treatment and pressure pump located here. The first floor air handler is centrally located in the crawlspace. A vapor barrier encompasses the entire floor making this area very pleasant to work in.

Windows/Doors/Lights

All external windows and doors are manufactured by Anderson windows. The doors and windows are triple pane glass filled with Argon and Krypton. The doors have an upper and lower set of locks. When the handle is pulled up, the locks engage, and the door seals shut. The windows and doors make the “world go away” and they provide absolute peace and quiet. There are over 140 LED lights throughout the house. Each bedroom has a master light switch that will turn on all outside lights. The outside corner lights are all provided by RAB Lighting. In addition, there are two side lights (east and west facing) that extend visibility 280′ in each direction.
